Table, the project proposal

Mesa is an original visual identity project for a contemporary Brazilian restaurant. The focus was simple: to ensure nothing distracts from the food.

The identity comes from the ingredients: the red of the palm oil, the yellow of the saffron. Every decision exists to serve the dish, not the design. The result is an identity that is Bahian in color and temperature , without needing to force either.

Visual Identity

The entire identity was developed from Brazilian food culture, using visual references present in the ingredients, colors, and atmosphere of Bahian cuisine.

The color palette was inspired by natural elements of regional gastronomy . Red refers to palm oil, an emblematic ingredient of Bahian cuisine, while saffron yellow evokes the spices, warmth, and richness of Brazilian seasonings. These tones are balanced by neutral lead and off-white, creating a contemporary language that allows the food to remain the protagonist of the communication.

Serif typefaces were chosen to convey personality, tradition, and sophistication, establishing a dialogue between the cultural heritage of Brazilian cuisine and the restaurant's contemporary concept. The typographic system creates a striking presence without competing with the images and the gastronomic experience. The result is an elegant, timeless identity deeply connected to the territory where the brand is located.

Creative and Photographic Direction

The visual direction was designed to convey simplicity as an aesthetic value. Instead of highly produced studio photographs, the approach was based on natural light, spontaneous framing, and real environments. The aim is to bring the audience closer to the everyday experience of the restaurant, highlighting that the focus is on the food, the people, and the atmosphere.

The guide provides references for photographs of dishes, ingredients, staff, customers, architectural details, and moments of conviviality, establishing a coherent visual language for all future content production.

The menu was conceived as an extension of Mesa's identity, where every design decision reinforces the gastronomic experience rather than competing with it. The minimalist composition, precise typographic hierarchy, and absence of unnecessary visual elements naturally direct the eye to what truly matters: the dishes. It communicates the restaurant's philosophy: when food possesses identity, quality, and personality, the design should act as a backdrop, allowing the gastronomy to be the true protagonist of the experience.

The social media content was developed to position Mesa as a contemporary Brazilian cuisine restaurant, transforming each post into a point of contact with the brand. The combination of natural light photography, elegant typography, and minimalist art direction enhances the dishes, the ambiance, and the experience , maintaining a consistent and memorable visual identity.

The content system was strategically planned to strengthen brand recognition, communicate its unique selling points, and create desire for the gastronomic experience. Each layout follows a unified visual language, balancing creativity, technique, and functionality to convey authenticity, sophistication, and regional personality across all digital channels.

Result

The project delivers a complete visual identity that positions Mesa as a contemporary Brazilian cuisine restaurant with a strong regional personality. The brand now communicates tradition without nostalgia, contemporaneity without excess, and sophistication without losing its approachability. Every element, from the logo to the color palette, from the photographic direction to the social media materials, was developed to build a consistent, memorable visual experience aligned with the restaurant's values.

The result is an identity that respects local culture, values Brazilian ingredients, and transforms simplicity into its main distinguishing feature. Discover below how this identity materializes in photographs, applications, and the atmosphere that makes Mesa a genuinely Brazilian experience.
